difference between 15 august and 26 january

History of Indian Independence Day and Indian Republic Day

Let us understand the difference between these two festivals according to the date.

On 15 August 1947, the British government's authority over India was over and India had become independent.  Hence, this day is celebrated every year as the Independence Day of India.

So the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950, the third year of the country's independence. After the constitution came into force, India became a sovereign nation.  The result was that India became a republic that was no longer bound to follow the decisions and orders of any foreign country.  Also, no other country can interfere in the internal affairs of India.

difference in hoisting the tricolor

Although both 15th August and 26th January are national festivals, there is a vast difference in the way they are celebrated.  On 15 August and 26 January, the flag is hoisted all over the country.  On Independence Day, the flag is hoisted by pulling it from below with a rope.  This is called Flag Hoisting.

While the flag remains tied on the occasion of Republic Day on 26 January, which is unfurled, in the constitution it is called Flag Unfurling.

difference in leadership

On 15 August 1947, the Prime Minister of the country hoisted the flag on Independence Day, till then the Constitution of the country was not implemented.  The leadership of the country in this matter was in the hands of the Prime Minister.  Hence, there is a tradition of hoisting the flag with the hands of the Prime Minister.

The constitutional head of India is the President, who is decided by the written constitution.  That's why the President hoists the tricolor on 26 January.  The President also delivers messages on behalf of the country.

there is also a difference in location

There is a difference between hoisting the flag on 15 August and hoisting the tricolor on 26 January.  Prime Minister hoists the flag from the Red Fort on Independence Day.  In which the tricolor is hoisted by pulling the rope from below.

On January 26, the President hoists the tricolor flag not from the Red Fort but at the Rajpath in Delhi.

Amrit festival of freedom will be celebrated this year

The central government is making special preparations to celebrate the nectar of independence, under which the tricolor campaign is being run at every home.
