Shah Jahan brought Mumtaz Begum to Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh, 787 km from Agra, to save her from the attack of the Lodhis. Mumtaz was pregnant at that time.
Then Mumtaz Begum died due to excessive pain during childbirth while giving birth to her fourteenth child, Gauhra Begum. Shah Jahan was deeply shocked by Mumtaz's departure and was unable to forget Mumtaz's death.
